Summer Swim has begun!

Hello Tiger Sharks Families!

Today was a great start to our swim season! We were so happy to see many familiar faces in the water at practice, and it was so fun to meet some new swimmers and their families. We know some of you still have school, so just join us for practice when you can. We're off to a great start!

I wanted to share a summary of what was talked about at our Meet the Coaches meeting along with a few updates. This email will have a lot of information, and hopefully you can refer back to it if questions come up. But, as always, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!

Mandatory Meet Support

Thank you to all of you amazing families who have already signed up to fill your jobs at the swim meets for this season. It is so exciting to see the sign up almost full. We've juggled a few things around, so if you've checked the jobs and didn't see any openings, this is a good time to check again...there should be some jobs open. (Head Timer is one job that is open, and that sounds scarier than it is. You're basically a back up timer for the lanes, in case someone has a stopwatch malfunction or misses the start. So, don't be afraid to commit to that one.) We are just so grateful to have everyone step up to support our swimmers and help the meets run smoothly!

Spirit Wear

Our spirit wear store is OPEN until June 3rd. Check out this year's design and order extra shirts, sweatshirts, hats, etc. Place orders HERE.

Officials

There is an officials training tonight (Tuesday, May 28th) at 6pm at the Dayton Metro Library on Far Hills (Kettering Branch). If you are at all interested in learning to officiate, please attend. Your attendance is NOT a commitment, but you may find it's easier than you think! Officiating is a GREAT way to fulfill your volunteer commitment and to see your swimmers race.

Concessions

Four Seasons is known for having awesome concessions at our swim meets, and we can't do it without you all. Please remember to sign up for at least one (more is always appreciated) concessions donation for our two regular season home meets.

Dates to Remember:

Monday, June 3rd: Spirit Wear store closes.

Tuesday, June 4th: First swim meet at Marinole. Swimmers should report by 4:45.

Wednesday, June 5th: Team picture day and Team Breakfast. Please be at the pool at 9am for individual pictures followed by our team picture.

Thursday, June 6th: Home swim meet at 4S. Swimmers should report by 4:45.

Wednesday, June 26th: SWIM-A-THON

Swim Meet Tips

* Plan ahead and give yourself plenty of travel time. The earlier you arrive the easier it is to find parking. Please follow all posted signs regarding parking to avoid being towed or ticketed. You may have to park on the street and walk a little ways to get to the pool, so plan accordingly.

* Bring a sharpie pen. Most swimmers like to write their events on their arm/leg to keep track of  what they are swimming.

* Check in with coaches and try to sit close to the team once you arrive at the meet.

* Check the event board to see what event is reporting and what event is swimming.

* Download the SwimTopia app. Very helpful to see swimmer's events and results. You can also manage your account through the app.

* Bring seating (blankets, camp chairs, etc.), lots of snacks and water, cash for concessions, and things for your swimmer to do in between events. It's a long night, but it's also a fun time!

* Bring extra towels, goggles, caps, etc. As the evening is sometimes cool, bring sweatshirts, dry clothes, etc. for your swimmer. Bug spray is also often appreciated.

Miscellaneous

* Swim caps were handed out today at practice. If you weren't there or didn't get one, please see a coach or find me (Becky), and we will be happy to get one for you. Each swimmer should wear their cap at our swim meets. That really helps our coaches visually ID our team's swimmers when they are lined up at the blocks.

* Team Picture order forms were also distributed today. We have more, so again, please just reach out if you need one. I will at tomorrow's practices from 9:45-10:15, and I will be around next week as well.

* SwimOutlet is a great resource for swim suits, goggles, caps, and more. If you order through our team link (HERE), that supports our team without any additional cost to you. No team suit is required, but there are a few suggestions in the team store to get you started, and we always love to see orange and black!

* Our swim-a-thon will be on June 26th. We NEED new lane lines, and we are hoping to raise some funds to purchase those in the near future.

* Registration is still open until June 14th, so spread the word!

* Swimmers must participate in at least two (2) regular season meets to qualify to swim in our championship meets.

* If you have swim wear or team spirit wear that your kids have outgrown, feel free to bring it to practice to share with younger kids!

Looking forward to a great season!
Becky Smith
